Where to go and what to do?

... there's so much choice!

Treks Bunkhouse is the ideal base camp for all your outdoor activities – and all within a short half hour (at most) drive through our wonderful Welsh scenery. We are also one of the hostels along the Cambrian Way route.

On Two Wheels

As a starter, Antur Stiniog is literally just up the road in Blaenau Ffestiniog, offering downhill biking trails (and mountain bike coaching if you need it!), café, shop, showers and bike wash. And we're not far from the National Route 82 of the National Cycle Network.

You'll also find challenging all-weather singletrack trails at centres such as Coed Y Brenin (and trails such as MinorTaur, Dragons Back, and Beast of Brenin), Gwydyr Forest and Penmachno, catering for families.

Up the Mountains

For walkers and climbers, the impressive Moelwyn and Cnicht mountains are almost on our doorstep, along with some of the best mountain biking trails anywhere! Mount Snowdon is a mere 40 minutes drive away. Remember to ask Dyfed about his insights to those well-hidden 'secret' routes!

On the Rivers

White water rafters and kayakers are naturally drawn to The National White Water Centre near Bala. And more whitewater awaits you on the Conwy, Ogwen and Glaslyn rivers – for beginner, intermediate and serious white-water experiences. A little-paddled Grade 5 short run nearer to Ffestiniog is on the Goedal river, offering natural slides, waterfalls and Norway-style drops. Ask Dyfed nicely, and he may even offer to share his insider info on the best spots!

On the Ramparts, Italy in Wales or at the Beach ...

You could explore the battlements at Harlech castle, or share in the dolce vita dream at the Italiate Portmeirion village. And, of course, the beautiful Welsh coast and golden sands beckons from just over the hill. Many of those sun-drenched beaches have coveted blue-flag status. Black Rock Sands Beach offers the longest beach in the UK – and you can even drive your car onto it.

... What Else?

Further up the valley, you'll can explore the Llechwedd Slate Caverns, or travel over the mountains to Beddgelert, to explore the underground caverns of Sygun Copper Mine. Then there's canyoning, the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland narrow-gauge railway, and of course, Zip World (Titan and Caverns) and Bounce Below in Blaenau Ffestiniog.

One thing's for sure – you won't have time to get bored!
